I write this, just after returning from the Annual Planning Conference (APC) in Reno, NV, for
the Pacific Northwest Region, which is comprised of 15 chapters, all got together to discuss the
coming year and get to know each other.
October 2015 Newsletter
“Be The Change” you want to see.
This is the theme chosen by NAWIC National President, Riki Lovejoy, for the 2015-2016 year. I love this theme and believe that we can all benefit by working toward this idea. The amount that you put into something reflects the hard work that you put in, whether it’s in the industry, your profession, personal life, or NAWIC. If there is something that is not meeting your expectations, help to improve it and make it better. The great benefit of being a NAWIC member is that you don’t have to do it
alone, as you have the entire member roster to lean on and collaborate with to make these positive changes!
I hope you are all as excited for the coming year as I am, and are looking forward to our chapter doing many fantastic things “to enhance the success of women in the construction
industry”. We have an enthusiastic board of directors this year, with a lot of fresh faces, who will be leading our chapter in this charge for change.
Be sure to mark your calendars with the events for the upcoming year (a calendar is included in this newsletter and posted on the website) and plan to attend our meetings and events. A committee list is also enclosed, so if there is a program or event that interests you, please contact the committee chair and ask how you can help!
To get the year started right, invite your friends, family and co-workers to attend Brew Fest on October 15th. This is our ONLY fundraiser for the year, so it is important that we raise enough to fund our programming for the entire year! Support NAWIC and have a good time doing it!
I am honored to be serving the members of the Portland chapter as President and want everyone to know that I, and the board, are always open to feedback and new ideas. With your support, we can “Be the Change” in our chapter. Let’s make it an awesome year!

September 2015 Newsletter
Wow, can’t believe that September is here. Hope everyone had a wonderful summer and is ready for the fall weather and football!
Quite a few of us just got back from AMEC in Nashville. It was a great trip filled with educational speakers, networking and fun times. Stay tuned for Aryn and Kelly’s summary reports detailing the events and speakers that they attended. Also check out the website as all of the speaker’s information, notes and materials have been posted if you would like to get more information about what happened in Nashville.
Next up, our September meeting will be the installation of new officers to the Board. We have an awesome group of new ladies coming on to the Board and the energy is good to propel us into a new excited NAWIC year. Please join us as we install the Board members.
We also have the results back from the survey so we will be discussing the results and any changes that will be occurring. We will also be nominating our paid delegates to
APC, so if you are interested in attending, please let me know. APC is in October and will be held in Reno, Nevada.
We are well on our way getting ready for our annual Brewfest event. Please reach out to your contacts in the construction industry telling them about the great event. Ticket
sales are open! We have over 100 people at the event last year, and it would be so great if we could beat that!! We are still looking for sponsorships and auction items so please let me know if you have anyone interested and if you need any ideas. This is our one and only fundraiser so please help out chapter be successful.

August 2015 Newsletter
Summer is coming to an end and so it the NAWIC year (as it ends September 30). Hope you have been able to enjoy the summer weather as well as the NAWIC year.
By now, you should have started receiving the renewal emails from National. I really hope that you and your companies have found value in NAWIC and continue to support the organization and your membership! The renewal fee is $255, which is the same as last year.
We have (8) ladies attending AMEC in just a few weeks! I am so excited to see such a large group of ladies attending and can’t wait to descend upon Nashville! So excited to learn more about NAWIC, our industry and COUNTY MUSIC! Stay tuned to the September meeting to hear more about the trip and AMEC.
Also, fast approaching is APC which is being held in Reno, Nevada in October. We will be voting for our delegates to attend at our August meeting, so let me know if you are interested in attending.
Also fast approaching is BREWFEST!! We are well underway gathering sponsorship, but we still need your help. Please help spread the word about Sponsorship, Auction Items and about attending the event. It is our only fundraiser, so let’s all pull together to make it GREAT!! Please let me know if you are interested in helping out at the event! We will need greeters/ check-in, ladies to man the wine wall, check out and general support throughout.
Also, please look for an email from Adele regarding a survey. We are looking for member input on what they would like to see for the new year, and your input is greatly appreciated.

July 2015 Newsletter
Happy July! I hope that everyone had a safe and happy 4th of July. And I hope everyone has been able to keep cool in this crazy heat wave we are having.
June was a great month. Thank you all who attended the June meeting, we had a great turn
out. We successfully elected our 2015 – 2016 Board of Directors, selected our very worthy
membership award recipients and selected our paid delegates for Nashville. Let’s all give
them a big shout out!
It’s not too late to sign up for Nashville. There are currently (8) of us coming from
Portland! Let me know if you are also interested in attending, it is sure to be a great time
learning from industry partners, NAWIC ladies and COUNTRY MUSIC!
Brewfest is coming along great! A big Thank You to Lease Crutcher Lewis and Turner for
sponsoring at the IPA level of $1,500! I also want to thank PCI and Fortis for sponsoring at
the Stout level of $500. We are off to a great start. Please continue to seek sponsorships
from your companies and companies you do business with. Brewfest is our only event to
raise money, so please reach out! Sponsorships help us do the fun things we do and are a
huge part in sending paid delegates to NAWIC events. We are also in great need of auction
items and wine for the wall of wine. Please let me know if you need ideas for auction
items!
Our July meeting will be July 16th and is a tour of the Sellwood Bridge! Please RSVP to
Aryn Ferguson. We will be following up the tour with dinner and networking at Elephants Deli. Parking is limited at the site, so carpooling from Elephants is encouraged. Wishing everyone a very fun and enjoyable summer, and I hope to see you at our July meeting!
