May 2015 Newsletter

A Message from Lauren Holmes | President, Portland Chapter 54

Wow, can’t believe it is May already! Looks like we made it through April without many Showers!

Alaska was a great Forum! The ladies in Alaska put on wonderful event with awesome speakers, tours and cultural dancing. The event was truly special and a great way to close the chapter on Region 9. Our next regional event will be in October in Reno,
Nevada. Stay tuned for more information regarding all that occurred in Alaska. Melody Draper and myself will be publishing our reports shortly.

At Forum I am pleased to announce that the Portland submissions for both the Block Kids and CAD competitions won at the Regional level! Thank you to both the committee chairs and all the people who participated in the events and the judging. Both of these will be forwarded to the National level. Fingers crossed for a Region 9 winner!! I am also pleased to announce that Andersen Construction won the General Contractor Safety award! Congrats to them and Adele Henry for their excellent safety programs.

Please mark your calendars for the May meeting. We have a lot to cover. We will be voting on next year’s officers. If you are interested in being on next year’s board, please get in touch with a member of the nominating committee (Marilyn Morrison, Adele Henry and Samantha Jordan). If you are curious about any of the duties of a position, please don't hesitate to reach out to the current officer and/ or myself for more information.

We will also be selecting our delegates for AMEC in Nashville. Please let me know if you are interested in attending AMEC and if you would like to be on this list of potential paid delegates. We need to have a quorum to vote for the officers, so please attend the meeting and help us elect our future leaders!
