Portland Women in Construction Week

WIC Week is NAWIC’s annual week of celebrating Women In Construction.

The Governor has ratified this announcement and proclaimed that March 5th through March 11th shall be Women In Construction Week in Oregon. The focus of Women in Construction (WIC) Week is to highlight women as a visible component of the construction industry. WIC Week also provides an occasion for NAWIC’s thousands of members across the country to raise awareness of the opportunities available for women in the construction industry and to emphasize the growing role of women in the industry. It is also a time for local chapters to give back to their communities.

Monday, March 6th: Women In Construction Panel at St. Mary’s Academy

Tuesday, March 7th: Women In Construction Panel at Lincoln High School

Women In Construction Panels are 45 minute panels discussing the various professional career paths available.  Panels will be moderated by Kelly Aust on both days and will consist of some open ended questions that will hopefully spur additional questions and thoughtful conversation with the students.  If you are interested in participating (Great! Because we are looking for a couple more panelists!), please email Kelly Aust at Kelly.Aust@skanska.com

Thursday, March 9th: Porter Hotel Jobsite Tour and Happy Hour at Skanska

Event will start at the Skanska Main Office at 3pm where interested parties can take a virtual walk through the Porter Hotel via VR Goggles/Headset. At 3:30, project team from the Porter Hotel will meet with us to discuss the project and take us across the street to tour through the 16 story concrete building that is still being constructed. Afterwards, we will come back to the Skanska office for happy hour and social networking.  There is no cost for attending and it is open to everyone (NAWIC membership is not required). Meeting Invite will be coming.  If you have any questions, please email Kelly Aust at Kelly.Aust@skanska.com
