The recent devastation unleashed on homes and businesses by SuperStorm Sandy is a good reminder to us all that we need to be prepared for local disasters. But what does it mean to “be prepared”? What steps can a company take to plan for and deal on its own with the immediate consequences of a disaster - before help arrives? And what can a company expect from community hospitals in the aftermath?
Whether it is an earthquake, severe storm, fire or flood, every business needs to know how to prepare, and what resources to expect from the local community. In this webinar, we will review what your local hospitals do to prepare, and what businesses can expect from them in the middle of a disaster event. The presentation will then cover key steps your business should take to plan for a disaster, and how to work with the local community to ensure your plan is aligned with the resources that will be available.
One of the major issues we have encountered and have dealt with is documentation; SDC & Associates, Inc. brings you a different format and provides you with a choice of seminars to attend. Some people may not have enough time in their day to attend an all-day seminar so join us for one or all four sessions.
This is a four part series, each session will cover different topics including, Proper Documentation: Change Orders and Claims: Delay Claim Cost Calculations: and Inefficiency Claim Costs: These sessions will help you develop your skills in pricing, negotiating, preventing, and defending the very complex issues of construction claims as well as teach you proven techniques for successful claim resolution, while developing the procedures and documentation required to increase your profits. These techniques apply both to public works projects and private commercial projects, and provide valuable information to increase your profits and protect your bottom line.

Most people don't realize how often they negotiate. Most negotiate on a daily basis, and many negotiate several times each day. Are you a good negotiator? Do you negotiate by feel, or do you actually know HOW to negotiate well? If someone asked you to teach them to negotiate better, would you know what to teach them? Negotiation is a discipline and a skill. There are things that all good negotiators know how to do, and there are common mistakes that many weak negotiators repeat. David Rabiner returns to teach us "Negotiation for All People". This workshop will include both valuable instruction and a team exercise that will be fun and eye-opening. You'll leave with a better understanding of how to apply the principles of human behavior to be more influential with people.
Continental breakfast will be provided.

Hoffman is about to kick off construction on a new complex at Portland Community College Cascade. Our new complex sits on an existing well landscaped parking lot. We are trying to recycle or give away all the plants in the existing parking lot to the community instead of throwing them away. I hope you can help me get the word out about this event. If your job is in the surrounding Portland area, please pass this on to all the people on your job site.
