January 2015 Newsletter

A Message from Lauren Holmes | President, Portland Chapter 54

Welcome 2015! Hard to believe the holiday season is over. Hope all of you had a wonderful season and were able to get away from work and reset for the new year! I know the workloads have been crazy and a bit of down time does us all good! We are still working on finalizing the speakers for the upcoming meetings this year. We have January and March locked in with a few speakers on the hook that just need dates finalized. If you have suggestions, contacts, etc. please forward them to myself and we will work to fill in the calendar. Please remember once a quarter we are meeting in the morning, with the next morning occurring in February.

We are still working to finalize the Block Kids event. We are targeting Duniway Elementary and should be sending out information later this week with the date for this
event. Stay tuned!

This year’s Forum will be held in Anchorage Alaska in May. Please let me know if you are interested in attending the event as we will be sending a few people as delegates for the chapter. This will be the last Forum as Region 9 as we are merging with Region 10 to create the Pacific Northwest Region. We will also be meeting and chatting with the ladies that are running for Director. Keep a look out for correspondence from the candidates. Currently we have Ruth Fritts from Boise and Evie Clark from Alaska running for the position. The voting will occur after Forum, but meeting the candidates will be of great benefit! Next year Forum will be combined and the location is TBD. The first event as a new combined region will be APC which is currently slated to be held in the Fall in Reno, NV. Stay tuned for more information regarding all of these events.

Hope everyone has a wonderful January and start to 2015!
