Block Kids

 

Block Kids - This event encourages and promotes construction to students in grades 1 through 6. The contest is held on the local, regional and then national level. Students are provided with identical kits of material and given 45 minutes to build something pertaining to construction. They are judged on the construction and their verbal explanation of their project.

Every student is given 100 Lego Building Blocks, a piece of string, a piece of foil and a piece of cardboard and given 45 minutes to build something using their imaginations.

The 2007 event was held February 9th at Martin Luther King Elementary school in Vancouver , WA . Forty-four students participated in this years competition.

Our winners were:

  • First Place : Annetta Cardin. a 5 th Grader. Her project was to design a Homeless Shelter. She received a $75 gift certificate to Barnes & Noble.
  • Second Place : Samantha Washington, who received a $50 Barnes & Noble Gift Certificate and Third Place went to Van Vo, who won a $25 Barnes & Nobile Give Certificate. Both are in the 4 th grade.
